About the Event

Congregations for Kids is partnering with Adoption Support Alliance to host Hope for the Journey, a virtual conference for parents and caregivers of children impacted by adoption and foster care.

This faith-based conference focuses on Trust Based Relational Intervention (TBRI), a care model aimed at meeting the relational and developmental needs of youth who have experienced trauma.

The conference includes research-based tools to promote attachment and connection in families such as Trust-Based Relational Intervention® (TBRI®) methods developed by Drs. Karyn Purvis and David Cross at the Karyn Purvis Institute of Child Development at TCU.  TBRI (Trust-Based Relational Intervention) is a care model designed to help meet relational and developmental needs of children and youth impacted by trauma. TBRI considers the whole child—his or her brain, biology, behavior, body, and beliefs—and provides parents and caregivers with practical tools and insight to help their child(ren) reach his or her high potential. And, perhaps most integral, at TBRI’s core is connection—the truth that connection builds trust, and trust builds healthy relationships.

Please note, there are some underlying Christian beliefs and principles that inform the TBRI approach and this conference.  We believe that non-Christians can benefit from the information presented.  However, we want you to be fully informed of the conference perspective before registering - whether it is an encouragement to you or a discouragement.

We will gather together at CFK's Homebase to attend the virtual conference and participate in meaningful discussions facilitated by Jen Hunt (CFK Family Care Coordinator & foster/adoptive parent) and Erin Nasmyth (Adoption Support Alliance Executive Director & Licensed Clinical Social Worker).

This conference can be accessed through Show Hope directly for $149 per family.   We are offering this conference on a Pay What You Can with a minimum payment of $20/family to offset the costs to the organization.

  • Lunch and snacks provided
  • Adults only, please

** While we are offering both in person and virtual tickets, we strongly encourage those who are able to commit to attending the in-person event on April 20th.  We will be facilitating discussions and participants will have the opportunity to engage with the teaching.  Certificates of attendance for 3.75 hours of training will be provided for those who are able to attend in person. If accepted by your agency, a certificate is available from Show Hope for virtual attendees as well.

We are offering the virtual option (which will be asychronous engagement with the recorded conference) to those who are unable to attend in order to ensure access to this helpful information to as many families as possible without schedule limitations.   Please choose your ticket carefully so that we know who to expect in person on April 20th!
