About the Event
Play creates connection, connection increases felt safety and when children's felt safety is increased, their cooperation also improves. Â You will leave this workshop equipped to connect with your child more easily through play and more confident that you will have the tools you need to improve the daily interactions in your family.
This workshop will be led by play therapist and UNCC PhD student and ASA intern, Lauren Benton, LPC. Â Â Lauren will teach you play therapy skills that you can use at home to connect with your child. Â Â Skills taught will include reflecting feelings, choice giving, limit setting, giving encouragement (instead of praise) and esteem-building. Â
This is a three-part workshop and will be held from 7 to 8:30 pm on Thursday, July 18, July 25 and August 1 at the Adoption Support Alliance office at 1501 East 7th Street Unit 6 Charlotte, NC 28204. Â
This workshop is being taught free of charge. Â Â Â We ask that if you register, you are able to commit to all three sessions, as each session will build on the last. Â If you have any questions, please reach out to Lauren Benton at laurenbenton@adoptionsupportalliance.org.Â
