Be You. An Art Camp for Adopted Children.

Adoption Support Alliance's “BE YOU. An art camp for adopted children” is for elementary school students who joined their family through adoption (any kind of adoption!). The camp will be co-led by ASA’s Executive Director and licensed clinical social worker, Erin Nasmyth, as well as art teacher extraordinaire, Erin Dennison.  We are excited to partner again for a memorable summer experience!

BE YOU activities will include all facets of art- visual, music, dance and drama.  We will incorporate creativity and expression daily through art activities, therapeutic games, adoption education and connection with one another.  Through our time together, we will normalize adoption as a way to form a family, learn more about adoption topics and empower children, at an appropriate developmental level, to embrace their unique and wonderful identities as adoptees.

Parents of ASA's Kids Camp participants will be given a guide to prepare their child for the BE YOU. experience in advance and daily conversation guides based on each day's activities to encourage conversation at home.

Camp is being offered two weeks this summer.  You may register your child for one or both weeks. 

• Week of August 7th 
• Week of August 14th

This is a half-day camp.  The time of day appropriate for your child will be based on their rising grade for the 2023-2024 school year.  We will have before-camp care starting at 8 am and after-camp care until 5 pm for those who need it.

• Rising kindergarten through 2nd grade students will meet 9 AM to 12 PM each day. 
• Rising 3rd through 5th grade students will meet 1 to 4 PM each day.

Camp will meet at the Foster Village Charlotte resource center.  We are so excited to partner in this way with such a wonderful organization!

Price is $250 per week for each child.  However, thanks to our generous donors, we are offering this class as "pay as you can".  So, $250 covers your registration, more will offset the costs of others and less will be covered by ASA donors.  Payment can be made via PayPal link on our website, Venmo (@adoptionsupport), Zelle (erin@adoptionsupportalliance.org) or by writing a check to "Adoption Support Alliance" and mailing it to 1501 East 7th Street, Unit 6 Charlotte, NC 28204.
